Project actions


The actions foreseen by the project can be divided in six categories:


1. Preliminary actions (A)


These are preliminary organizational actions (project coordination), scientific actions (knowledge improvement), planning actions (management plans), techniques (executive plans), updating of available data (Natura 2000 SCI schedule). These are necessary assumptions for the successful realization of the measures of conservation. These actions consist in:
A1 Formalization of a structure for the project's coordination and completion of the authorization and administrative actions
A2 Scientific faunal inventory
A3 Scientific flora and vegetation inventory
A4 Updating of Natura 2000 schedule
A5 Interregional action plan for the protection of Little bustard
A6 Editing of the executive project of the Little bustard breeding centre
A7 Genetic and morphologic researches


2. Purchase or/and rent or compensatory actions (B)

The project foresees the following action:
B1 Compensation for the unsuccessful collection in the nesting areas of Little bustard (*Tetrax tetrax)


3. Concrete actions of conservation (C)

The project foresees four concrete actions of conservation, restoration and improvement of the habitat and the species object of the intervention.
These actions consist in:
C1 Pilot interventions of sowing of suitable vegetal species for the restoration of the biocenosis pasture in a suitable area for the Little bustard (*Tetrax tetrax)
C2 Breeding centre for Little bustard
C3 Restocking of Little bustard activities
C4 Pilot interventions of management by means of domestic livestock (habitat 6220*) in the suitable area for Little bustard


4. Monitoring activities (D)

These actions are aimed at checking the right project management and the achievement of the objectives. The foreseen actions are:
D1 Scientific monitoring of the impact of the project's actions
D2 Monitoring of the socio-economical impact of the project


5. Communication and awareness actions (E)

These actions aim at increasing the consciousness and at promoting the right cohabitation of humans and Little bustard.
E1 Realization of the project image and design of the divulgation material
E2 Realization of divulgation brochure on LIFE project
E3 Realization of a comic on Little bustard
E4 Realization of a divulgation booklet
E5 Information desk for the local sustainable agriculture
E6 Realization of informative panels with notice board
E7 Activation of a website dedicated to the Little bustard and the LIFE project
E8 Realization of an audiovisual documentary
E9 Program of environmental education addressed to the schools in Gargano National Park
E10 Program of environmental education addressed to the schools in Alta Murgia National Park
E11 Program of environmental education addressed to the schools in Murgia materana National Park
E12 Public awareness
E13 Realization of a periodic newsletter on the project's activities
E14 Press conferences and press releases
E15 International final meeting
E16 Production of a final divulgation report in Italian and English
E17 Monitoring of the farmer's behavior in the intervention areas
 

6. General project management (F)

These actions are related to the coordination and verification of the project development.
F1 Technical management of the project
F2 Administrative management of the project
F3 International scientific committee
F4 Monitoring of the project's progresses
F5 Networking activity with other LIFE projects
F6 Independent review of the balance
F7 Conservation post-LIFE plan
