The interested habitats for this project are 6220*- Pseudo-steppe with grasses and annuals (Thero-brachypodietea), which is priority for the EU, and "62A0: Eastern sub-mediterranean dry grassland (Scorzoneratalia villosae)". These are shortly extended mostly graminaceous prairies on calcareous substratum with the sporadic presence of shrubs, bushes and trees (oaks or/and wild pear-trees). This kind of vegetation is due to the arid climate and to the calcareous soil's poorness in nutrients where the vegetation grows. This habitat has a secondary origin, since its formation has been influenced by human activities (deforestation, fire, pasturage, etc.) and developed by the degeneration of scrub and maquis shrubland vegetation. The description of the habitat 6220* reported in the EUR/27 Manual is lacking but at the same time it is rich in indications referring to a variety of vegetation forms, different for ecology, structure, physiognomy and floristic composition, which have a great naturalistic importance. For this reason, the project includes the restoration of the typical local vegetation of Poetea bulbosae. In past, this kind of habitat has suffered a significant reduction in the intervention area, due to the increasing anthropic pressure.
